Strengthening Discernment Through Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection

After spending the first week settling into stillness, this new week is inviting me deeper. Stillness quiets my mind. Listening opens my heart. And I am already learning that discernment requires more than slowing down. It requires surrender.

The intention for this week is to strengthen my ability to listen through scripture, prayer, and reflection. Real listening is not about confirming what I already hope to hear. It is about receiving what God is actually saying.

That is the posture I want to practice.

What This Theme Means to Me

Listening is more than the absence of noise. It is the posture of a softened heart. I can be physically still and yet internally bracing myself. When my inner stance is guarded, stillness becomes stubborn.

Listening is stillness paired with surrender. It is the willingness to allow God to speak, correct, guide, or redirect. Listening means remaining open to revelation, open to being shaped, and open to hearing something unexpected.

This week, I want to stay open.

Where I Feel Strong

I am strong in sensing God’s nudges. When I slow down enough to pay attention, I often recognize what is being revealed. Spiritual sensitivity has always been a strength for me.

But I also know that constant media dulls that awareness. When I clear the noise, listening becomes natural again. I hear God more easily when my environment supports quiet attentiveness.

Where I Feel Stretched

Trusting what I hear is the part that stretches me. Discernment becomes complicated when I am unsure whether it is God speaking or simply my own desires echoing in the background.

I can see truth clearly for others. I can discern patterns, direction, and alignment with ease. But applying that same clarity to myself is harder.

Listening is easy.
Trusting is harder.
Separating God’s voice from self comfort or self preservation is where my faith grows.

What I Hope God Clarifies This Week

My prayer for this week is simple. I want to know whether I am truly listening or simply filling the silence with my assumptions. I want to recognize when a prompting is genuinely from God rather than influenced by hope, fear, or internal narratives.

Refine my spiritual hearing.
Reveal what is Yours and quiet what is not.
Align my steps with what You are truly saying.

I want to interpret without inserting myself into the message.
