We were driving from Alabama to Missouri—my family and I—a move, a milestone, a next chapter.
Somewhere along the highway, the skies opened up. Not just in gloom, but in glory.
The rain came down hard. At one point, it was falling so fast and thick, I could barely see the road. But even then, I found myself whispering, “Holy Spirit, thank You.” Thank You that even in this—we were still moving. The road was wet, but the ride was steady. And all I could do was repeat His name with gratitude.

“It looked like the heavens cracked open. Light poured down like glory.”
Then the sun broke through—not gently, but boldly—and the way it hit the rain? It looked like golden showers—like someone in heaven tipped over a bucket of light and let it fall across the road.
The water lifted from the back of cars ahead of me like sparkling mist, and for a moment, it felt too beautiful to be real. Like I could roll the window down and catch diamonds in my hand.
And in that sacred hush, I found myself wondering: Is this how Moses felt? When the bush burned but wasn’t consumed? When glory showed up in mist, in flame, in the thinnest veil between heaven and earth?
Because I’m telling you—it felt like the Holy Spirit could’ve stepped right out of the light. Right there. Right then. Not in some future mountaintop moment—but in the middle of the road, in the middle of the rain.

I won’t pretend to know what all of it meant.
But I know how it felt: Like confirmation. Like a quiet yes. Like a soft but powerful presence.
And if I’m honest—I didn’t even realize how hard I was trying to hold it together until that moment gave me permission to exhale.
God is with us in the storm. But He’s also with us in the shine. And sometimes, if you’re paying attention, you’ll catch both at once—and walk away changed.
A Quiet Prayer:
Holy Spirit,
You don’t always come with thunder.
Sometimes, You come in the middle of movement—
in rain that glows like gold
and roads that glisten with new beginnings.
Thank You for traveling with me.
For calming my fear,
for keeping the wheels steady when the way felt unclear,
and for meeting me in the mist.
Help me stay soft to Your nearness.
Keep me aware of glory when it appears quietly.
And remind me that even when I can’t see clearly—
You are still guiding me forward.
Amen.
A Scripture to Carry:
“Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: His going forth is prepared as the morning; and He shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.” —Hosea 6:3 (KJV)
